Question about communication....

Here's a question for you experienced Dads out there. I know that when my son leaves for Basic training next month, they have to mail their personal effects home, including their cell phones. My question is this..... After my son graduates from Basic Training, he'll be staying at Great Lakes for his A-School, to learn to be an EM, Electrician's Mate. Are they allowed to keep their cell phones to use in the evenings while they are in A-School?

  • I've given up trying to find info about their phone policy on the internet.....if it exists someplace it is well hidden

  • That's exactly what I was asking about was OFF DUTY hours, as was worded in my question.  I don't need to be reminded about it being the military and i expect him to be busy studying in MOST of his off duty hours anyway.   Thanks for your reply.

  • as far as I know they can use phones OFF DUTY times and not during class hours......remember this is the military and he needs to concentrate on his job and not personal comms

  • Thanks Paul, that's great to know for Basic Training.

Still wondering if they can have it unrestricted for off-duty hours during A-school.
