I have read from the N4M site, that there's a scam going on, that someone or a grp are pretending to be your sailor with a cold, that are in need of money only by wire method,, so please be alert on any phoney calls that may come your way, and check and confirm always!

Everyone should have a way to verify identity....a fact, phrase, or something that only you and your sailor know. Always beware when you get a call or message that "puts you on edge" as there usually a reason for that kernel of doubt. And let those grandparents know that only you are handling issues dealing with their grand-sailors and that they must contact you!!!
Also, and I'm very concerned how everyone here, uses their first and last name, sailors name so easily, not good! yikes!
I have posted the BLOG (below)from N4M site, what it looks like and how it was done to some grandparents, sounds like an Inside Job! hmmm!!!! (
I just wanted to warn everyone to have an ear open. My son graduated from Navy Boot Camp on May 10th, 2013. He is currently at Great Lakes for A School (DC) and my parents his Grandparents were called last Thursday May, 23rd by someone stating that it was him (sounded congested) stating that he had 3 day's of liberty and he went with a fellow sailor to Canada to a friends wedding where they rented a car. Since he had a cold he took some Nyquil and subsquently got into a car accident. He was taken into custody and charged with a DUI. He told my mother not to tell his parents because they would worry but that his lawyer would be calling them for next steps. The lawyer called 10 minutes later stating that they would need $880.00 to bail him out and that his record would be "expunged" and his Navy career would be entact. My father, a previous Sailor was so concerned for his grandsons future in the Navy went straight to the Bank and sent the Money Order ASAP. 2 hours later they received another call stating that my son was in front of the judge and was being charged with fraud for signing an affidavit stating that his credit score was higher than 550 but in fact since he was in Canada his credit was zero and they would need another $880.00. Off to the bank my dad goes to save his grandsons future. I received a call about 1 hour after this from my son stating that grandma called him freaking out! I went straight to my parents house and"Skyped" my son so that they could see he was in his barracks. We filed a police report and notified the FBI. Unfortunately the money is gone! My parents hearts were bigger then their brains when this was going on and I truly love them for that but I wanted to get the message out to all of you to BEWARE! Tell all those grandparents out there not to fall for this SCAM!
