leaving for boot camp

well my son Kyle left Atlanta, Monday afternoon. We had a going away party for him on Sunday afternoon. a large number of family and friends came out to say good-by.although Kyle said he did not want a big to-do. But he really enjoyed the party.Late last night, Kyle called home and said " i don't have much time to talk, we made it to boot camp, you will get a box and a letter from me in about 3 weeks."we could hear the instructor in the back ground, for them to hurry up.It hasn't set in yet he is gone. We are still stepping over his shoes. This morning, I was getting things around to leave the house trying to be quiet, when I realized he was not here.

  • Mike, we feel your pain. My son left today for RTC and we are waiting on his call as I write this. Its been hard to swallow quite a few times today especially when I look at his car or go by his room. But it aint about us. They are joining a team of the finest and they will be made to be the finest. My sons rate is HM. We pray for all the military.
  • Mike we all have been in your shoes. The first 4 weeks are tough and it seems like an eternity but the last 4 fly bye. Start writing letters now, just number them so that Kyle will know the order to read them in. They will save his mail for the first 3 to 4 weeks until they earn the right to receive mail. Also Kyle's recruiter should know his ship and division # tomorrow. As soon as you get that, the address is in the bootcamp group. I wish your family and Kyle the best during boot camp and PIR will be here before you know it.
