Medical Hold Status

My daughter just graduated from GL on 8/9. She had struggled with a sore throat and cold for about two weeks. She did graduate and was supposed to go to Pensacola for AW school. Instead they said her white cell count was off a little and placed her on a medical hold. What can she expect next?

  • When my son was placed in THU, there were 90+ Sailors there ahead of him. Last I checked with him, he was number 6 or 7 longest being there. Not sure if they take them in order of when they are placed in THU or what. But hopefully he will be shipping on very soon. I hope the best for your daughter!
  • Thanks for the heads-up. I have heard this story repeated many times.
  • You most likely can expect her to stay there until she gets a few blood tests that will show that her white cell count is lined out and that there are no more problems. I won't sugar coat it for you. It might be a while. My son graduated on 4/3 and is still in THU because his bloodwork got outta wack during boot camp. He got a clear blood test on 4/28 but they apparently want him to have more than one. He has had at least 2 appointments either canceled or paperwork wasn't dealt with properly. He is currently waiting for his next appointment on 8/20 and hopefully then he will be cleared to continue on to his A school. I'm hoping for your daughter's sake that she will get dealt with faster than my son has. Just tell her to keep her chin up and hang in there.
