Well, it's been 5 years and my son is about to separate.
He's been going over the paper work but they seem to be going around in circles. He has about 45 days left so I assume there is still time to complete the paperwork.
Does anyone have advice on getting the paperwork done?
Thanks

They should have had him sign it the day he went on terminal leave. That's what I did. That is standard practice. Sounds like that PSD is about as organized as a monkey s@#$ fight at the zoo.
He just got a reply from his Admin that they've consolidated the PSD, (Never a Good Thing) and they are backlogged 3 months.
Complicating factor was that he had built up some leave time and used that just before his separation. They were supposed to schedule an exit interview which he would return to base for. From what I understand sailors are no longer allowed to contact the PSD directly so they are at their mercy. He's been going through his Admin but that doesn't seem to be working. I've told him to wait a few more days and then contact the XO to see if he has any insight.
It's odd that he doesn't have a DD-214. He should have signed it the day he got out and they should have given him several copies. Signing your DD-214 is literally the last thing you do before you walk off the base for good. Someone definitely didn't do their job.
Well he's out and still has no DD 214, all paperwork has been filed. Any advice on how to expedite the process?
Thanks.
Get it submitted as soon as possible. My son was medically discharged and the process took about 9 months. Not saying it will take that long for you, but don't let that slow the process down.
