RTC Challenge Coins

Just received the "I'm a Sailor" call from my son.   In our conversation he mentioned he was given to "Challenge Coins".   Being naive, I was wondering if anyone could explain what these coins are and how they age given out?

Thanks

  • Ouch...didn't realize it was that hefty of an investment! It was just a thought....

  • ...would pay for the Server....

  • we've discussed many times Tom....it's kinda a hefty capital outlay for the design and minting (as I recall $2500 and up)...we're always looking at alternatives.....

  •    Hey...maybe a dumb idea...but did you guys ever think of commissioning a Navy Dads coin?...I know that I would be right in line for one...

  • LOL Tom will do!!

  • Gary...pull out your coin....and Paul...I'm telling the wife that it is all your fault!....LOL!

  • I know Tom....I've laughed at lot about that too......heckofa coincidence!!!!  I have so many cool ideas for holders- need more time and money to buy specialized tools.....it truly never ends!!!!!  And now have some ideas for Navy cutting boards.....we'll see about those..........

  • OK Paul LOL...

  •    I read that after I saw your followup....every site has the same story word for word. All that I could think of is ..."He's a French model....Bonjour!"...LOL! I fly with a virtual squadron on weekends....a bunch of WW2 buffs...somehow we got talking about them and that was the story that I got. They probably go back way further than WWI if you think about it...we men love to belong to a group! It is a pretty cool and inexpensive hobby. Navy Dads got me started on buying them. I'm totally impressed with the holder designs that you guys build. I've got a handfull now...but it will get much worse, no doubt!

  • If you're buying bud, I concede!!!!!
