What size ship is best?

Talked to my son and he stated He hopes he gets on a smaller ship not an aircraft carrier.  I ask is it better to be on a small ship where he will have more jobs to do than a large one.  He is going to be a MM.

Scott he's got a point but there are advantages and disadvantages to both small and larger ships...

as an aside, Eric did a deployment on the Theodore Roosevelt...mentioned if he ever did another cruise he wanted to be on one of the "small boys"

I asked my son the same question and he did not want to be in a carrier like his cousin. He wanted to be on an assault ship. I couldn't really figure out why. I gather besides some of his buddies from BC, he also hung out with Marine Corp dudes he became friends with in A-School.

But ultimately like Paul said, the needs of the Navy always come first.

He stated that with 3000+ sailors on a ship too many people\bosses.  On a smaller ship with 300 people being a MM he will get alot more training because less people to cover all areas.  I maybe wrong put he seems to get to learn/work on alot of different systems.  Thanks for your reply I'm new too this he is the first in our family to join the Navy.

that is kinda like asking what flavor of ice cream is the best (clearly chocolate and coffee).....depends on what you want, but more importantly what the needs of the Navy are.....
