What is Thanksgiving Adoption?
Can someone provide some insight on what this is? My son's PIR is Dec 5th. I read on previous years blogs about Thanksgiving Adoption but I don't quite understand it. If I were in town staying near the camp, would I be able to take my son and any other SR adopted out for dinner off campus? Highly unlikely for me to be there but thought to understand this better.

There are retired Navy/Military or just civilian folks that are approved by the Navy that take a couple of Navy recruits into their home for Thanksgiving Dinner. There is absolutely no alcohol!! Our daughter did this Thanksgiving 1998 she had a great time. Not sure if parents are permitted to do this better check first.

Thanks Bill but it won't be an issue for me anymore...as I won't be able to make it out to GL during Thanksgiving. I'll just be coming in for his Dec 5th PIR. Cheers!
