Do any of you folks have sailors finishing GM A school in June/July? I'm wondering what you're seeing re: holds after A school. Are these kids getting leave and orders as soon as they finish or are they going on hold? Our son Dan thinks he may be done with A school 7/27.

Have fun Glen, I should be on the Enterprise quarter deck by 17:30 on this Friday. Nick has dog duty during the holiday weekend. Told him you can't get into trouble if your working. I plan on cooking him a big steak dinner this weekend. What ship is Danny on? Nick is still on the Enterprise. Gary T.

Well - Danny called 5/13 and told me he classed up for A school 5/14. I'm glad - too much time on his hands out there. His Mom and I are heading out for the holiday weekend for a visit - first time we've seen him since PIR on 2 Jan. Long time to not see your 18 year old son. Taking the fam to a Cubs game at Wrigley Field on Monday pm - that will be fun.

Bill and Glen, Nick got the word, He is classed up for A.T.T. school starting afternoons tonight 27/04/09. It appears Brett and Danny smooth the waves and made the hold times disappear. Gary T.

Congrats to Brett! I know Nick can't wait for A.T.T. to start. He said the days go by faster when he is in school. I know what you mean about sitting around. He did have several years in electricity in high school. I do not think he will have much problem. Have to keep my fingers crossed. Gary T.

Hey Guys, Brett finished ATT today. A total of 18 business days. March 26 thru April 21. He thinks he will class up for A school by next Wed. the 29th if scheduling goes smoothly. 52 days of A school puts him to the end of July and then the wait begins. Man, I hope they can do something about the holds. These young men are going to go freaking nuts waiting between 3 to 6 months. Just ain't right! Godspeed to our sailors,Bill

Gary - I think he was in ATT for roughly 2.5 - 3 weeks. He missed a couple days at beginning as he was in a car accident and wrenched his leg or back or something....but he said he caught up quick. It's computer-based trng so can go quick.

Bill, glad to here Brett getting close to finishing A.T.T.. Looks like it will have taken him 4 weeks by my count. Next A-school and then the transfer hold till October. Keep me informed. You may have read Nick is on day hold for A.T.T.. This is week one. He has alcohol and drug abuse classes for one week. He said he doesn't mind the classes, they make the time go by faster. Gary T.

Glen, once A.T.T. started for Danny, how long did it take for him to finish? It seems things are moving at a faster pace. Nick is currently on the Enterprise. His SDC Will Barton said some changes have been made on the movement between ships. Nick may have an option to stay on the Enterprise. They now have a new system they implemented (Dog Duty) one week end on and three off. We live 107 miles away and Nick likes the opportunity to come home on week-ends. Best to your son Danny, please continue to update, its the only way I have of knowing what to expects. Gary T.
