Johnathon--if you ever want to help with a packing party, let me know.  I'm in Troy, IL, but St. Charles is pretty accessible.

Hello all;

Good to finally see some action on this site.  My son is a Nuke as well but he is "dry docked" at A school in Charleston.  Broke his ankle on Labor day weekend and is still healing.  He is out for awhile but is waiting to class up agian.  Seems he will probably have to start over, not too bad though as he was only 5 weeks along . We are from the St. Charles area.

Hey--mine's an MM and welder, nuke.  He's with the drydocked USS W. Virginia.  They're coming along with the rebuild and refuel.

GUYS--where are you?  I miss the male perspective on all things.

Thanks for the welcome messages. We live just outside of Peoria. My son is a Machinist Mate (3rd Class) (Nuclear). He has been in the Navy for 2 years and is at the tail end of finishing up his prototype qualifications at Saratoga Springs NY. From there it's most likely Engineering Laboratory Technician School and than hopefully instructor duty. If all goes as planned anyway LOL If not instructor duty than it's to the fleet on a sub most likely.

Welcome Christian.  What part of Illinois do you call home?  What stage is your sailor at this time?

Comment by Carol Pigg on October 1, 2012 at 4:20pm

Our sailor is in dry dock.  All he could get out before laughing hysterically about the show was "their uniforms are too clean!"  I personally thought the story line was lacking--why do we want to care about anyone the way they introduced them?

Anybody catch "Last Resort" on ABC last week?

Welcome James--I'm down I/70-55, close to St. Louis.  We have a huge contingency of Moms up by Bloomington, Wheaton, etc.  They are always looking to expand their groups when they go to military functions.

Congrats on PIR.  Where is you sailor's A school?
Our sailor has been in over 4 years as a machinist mate and welder with his sub (now in dry dock.)

Our son's PIR last Friday. So I'm just joining NavyDads and looking through the different groups. Looks like I popped in on some serious discussion in this one!

Haven't been here for a while.  Welcome to all.

At hubby's high school reunion last night--got to talk with several Viet Nam vets (yes, we are that old.) Many did not even graduate due to the war. Mostly Army guys.  This Mom just has to hug each and every one she meets who has served our country.

Have a good Sunday.
