I havent commented since my son left for basic back in 2014. He ended up being separated due to his back while in basic. I am a Navy veteran as well as Army, Navy Reserves and Air Force Reserves. I am disability retired from the VA in Marion as a Police Dispatcher, at least that was my last job there. I am pro Navy all the way and if I can add some encouraging words for kids heading to basic Ill be glad to share even though alot has changed in basic since I was there in the 70's

Is this still an active group? Just had son #2 enlist this week and am wondering if there any other parents needing support. Even though I’ve been through this before, it is still emotional and somewhat nerve wracking! So very proud to be a Navy Mom x 2!!!!

Hi Joe, welcome aboard from Nappanee! My son Andrew just finished his enlistment in the Seabees after 5 years. This is a great place to get your questions answered as your son prepares and enters Navy life. Good luck to him in his coming adventures.

Hey everyone! I see that this group has been stagnant for almost a year now. Let's change that!!! My son just enlisted on 9-9-15. I am so proud of him!!! He ships out to boot camp on April 12, 2016. I'm a very proud but very nervous Navy Dad!

Just joined the group. My son (Jon) is in Goose Creek SC for A-school and Nuke training. He had PIR on May 30, 2014. Looking forward to meeting some other families with sailors here in IN.

Where is everybody from?

I thought it would be fun to find out where all of our Indiana members live.

We have anyone up north here? Hometown is Nappanee. My son graduates boot Nov 5. Then headed into the Seabees. Took almost 9 months of waiting to get in but he finally got to RTC. I am really proud of him and know it will be worth it. Prior Navy myself and I would go back in a heartbeat.

West of Indy

My son is in his 3rd full week. Wife and I had dinner with Navy4Moms last week. 5 more Fridays to go. Got the 1st hand written letter today, Yay. Any other families in Avon - Danville area have new recruits at GL's?
