Welcome to the NavyDads Media Center !

Share your recommendations for books and other media that you think would be of interest to other NavyDads.  I have numerous books I've read, and recently listened to via audiobook download, that generally concentrate on WWII Navy history that tell the recent combat history of the Navy and show where many current Navy doctrines and traditions have evolved from.  I find the stories compelling and make me even more proud to have a daughter that is a Navy veteran and a son on active duty and part of this long tradition of service.  Won't you share your recommendations as well?

Will see if our local Costco stocks this but sounds like a read Paul! Will shop around... Just hoping that idiotic comment of "What difference does it make" is nowhere in the book!!

sounds interesting Bill...might have to put that on my list!  I picked up one at Costco tonight....don't know if it's good or bad, positive or negative yet- a lot about Benghazi.  Book is called EYES ON TARGET : Inside Stories from the Brotherhood of the US Navy SEALS

Sorry for the absence and delayed response Paul, yes it is worth the read. It is a little different from what we are used to reading in terms of the historical Navy. This gets into the effects of Navy life on the sailors and families. It is written by a guy who lost his father when his EA-6B Prowler crashed in the Indian Ocean when he was just 13 years old.

Finished "The Magical Stranger" by Stephen Rodrick and now on to "Enterprise" by Barrett Tillman.

Paul, absolutely! I actually confused DC with firefighting. It is firefighting that is taught from Seaman Recruit to Admiral.

You have to include the shift in fire fighting as well....

After the incident on The USS Forrestal in 1964, DC became the most important training from Seaman Recruit to Admiral. The Sammy B and the USS Cole are proof that it is working!

Just finished No Higher Honor last night. Yes! Terrific book! You just can't say enough about that crew.
