Hello.  I'm new to the group.  I am interested in books relevant to now and the future for the Navy and subs in particular.  Yes, I love history, too, but am trying to educate myself and my son for his career. Both of us have read and really enjoyed Blind Man's Bluff and Big Red and Submarine(by Clancy).  I'm also interested in good movies and documentaries regarding subs and the USN.  Your recommendations welcomed. Thanks.

finished Thunder Below......I highly recommend!  The tactics pioneered by the USS Barb and Capt. Fluckey were years ahead of their time.....

You know, I've had sailors in the family since '05 when my daughter enlisted so have read a ton on the military over the past nearly 10 years......I am proud, humbled, and amazed when I learn of what our soldiers, sailors and airmen have done and continue to do since our Country was founded.

Ralph, be sure be exceptionally good between now and Christmas so Mrs. Claus delivers on the request! You will love the Hero Ship DVDs. I watch these over and over picking up something new each time. My favorite is the USS Laffey. It was instrumental in protecting some 200,000 Marines on Guadalcanal in a true David and Goliath battle. But that said, they are all good right up to the modern LPD USS New York. So mix in a little naughty with the nice for Mrs. Claus to ensure you get these! :-)

Started dropping the Christmas hints to Mrs. Claus and the kids. Hero Ships dvd set and Amazon gift card (for downloading books to my iPad).
