Welcome to the NavyDads Media Center !

Share your recommendations for books and other media that you think would be of interest to other NavyDads.  I have numerous books I've read, and recently listened to via audiobook download, that generally concentrate on WWII Navy history that tell the recent combat history of the Navy and show where many current Navy doctrines and traditions have evolved from.  I find the stories compelling and make me even more proud to have a daughter that is a Navy veteran and a son on active duty and part of this long tradition of service.  Won't you share your recommendations as well?

I could have sworn i had a review about this book, but cannot find it.  Our kids go through Great Lakes and as parents we learn about Battle Stations as best we can.  Out kids hit the fleet and we learn about their station in damage control and what they do.  If you want to learn about why this is so important watch these brief videos:

THEN get this book and read all about it....if you know WWII history you know the original Samuel B Roberts was part of one of the most heroic combat efforts in the history of the US Navy.

Paul, this does look like it will be an interesting read. I just finished the section in "A Sailor's History of the U.S. Navy" about this incident. It made me want to read more!

Went on a little detour and listening to my all-time fav read ("The Stand"), but will have this next on my reading list--- sounds interesting!

I've gone fishin' twice in my 52 years. I think my urban hyperkinetic life would benefit, but I've never gotten into it.

Good book not in a military/naval theme: DARKLY ODD by Dean Koontz. This character and his story telling always entertain and engross me.

Thanks for the tip.  Personally, I fish because the voices in my head tell me to.
