this was also a recent read....and well done!

I read that one way back in '11....it is a good book!!!  I got off track with Navy stuff....currently listening to

Paul, like you, I have not had a lot of time to read of late. The last book I read was Troubled Water by Gregory Freeman. It is about the near mutiny on the USS Kitty Hawk back in 1972. The next one up....when I jump back in....will Be Halsey's Typhoon. This came highly recommended.

That promise was forgotten for a long time.   After he was liberated and got out, his life was a train wreck.   His salvation came after his wife talked him into seeing Billy Graham much later in his life.  After dedicating his life to Christianity, the horrific nightmares he experienced every day stopped and never returned.  From that point on in his life he accomplished some fantastic things.

Ralph, In the trailer you hear him say something like, "If I make it through this, I swear, I will dedicate my whole life to you."  Not sure of the exact context or where it goes from there.

I have heard that the movie will ignore or totally downplays Louie finding faith through Billy Graham. I do not plan to see the movie if that turns out to be true.

Just finished 'Unbroken'. The story of Louie Zamperini. The Olympic runner, B24 bombadier, and Japanese POW. Great story about an amazing guy. If you never really knew about how bad a POW camp could be, you will by the end of this book.
My father was a German POW in WW 2. That's part of what drew me to this book.
