2 weeks ago our family welcomed another nuke to the fold as my daughter got married, and in November we will have a pint sized nuke for me to spoil rotten

go to maps.google.com and search for naval weapons station goose creek, switch to earth view and look for the buildings in the shape os x's. that is NNPTC.

Then follow to the right and down some along the water and you will see the two docks where the prototypes are parked there, only one shows up as im guessing the picture was taken with one of them up here for their refuel

definitely dont miss seeing that.

in case anyone was curious, zoom in on google earth and look for the big cylindrical shapes, the smaller one is MARF and the bigger one is S8G

They are expected to practice on their own and find time to get it all done not just the academic part of the program.   So if somebody seems to be spending more time in the study hall but is letting his physical fitness slide the training command will come down hard on them.  People have been kicked out of the program for failing the PFT.  My son saw it happen while he was there.  He had a "good - high" score so was not required to attend the morning PT but usually he went anyway.

@Phillip- Beginning last year the Navy instituted a policy where if you get 3 official PRT failures in 4 years that you are involuntarily separated. I have seen this come up on my boat for both a nuke and a nonnuke. Good thing about being a nuke is that you are highly valuable so when they filed the paperwork to boot him out some high up admiral came back down that it wasnt going to happen. They said he won't be kicked out and will just do the time he has left on his contract and then leave. For the nonnuke guy though unfortunately he will be out the door here soon.

How this will go for a nuke in training i am not too sure but it probably wouldnt go well as they havent finished schooling and gotten a big reenlistment bonus so the Navy isnt losing too much if they get rid of them.

Need to tell him that if he doesnt want to risk getting kicked out that he needs to just keep trying his best

Heard from my FN/MM at GC that failed his PFT....He passed the BIG test today and will COMPLETE A School, he was uncomfortable with GRADUATE, they gave him a striker patch to wear above FN.  He's comming home Friday.  He couldn't explane how he gets E-4.

His GPA was good.... B+, and, this is the big one, It's not that he can't pass the PFAs.....When he went to BC he just earned his second degree Brown belt and won two world championships in American Taekwondo.  He knows conditioning, and can't be that far from good shape.  He doesn't like to run.  I'm taking him to the dojo next week and letting him explane to Master Youshock what happened.  Didn't talk contracts, or legnth of commitment, or DEP bonus.  He mentioned possible 2 month T Track before power school and maybe we can do something then.

Something else about 4 PFTs a year, with PFAs in between.  We may have to wait until fall to retest and see what happens.  Either way, I just don't want it to be a distraction at Power School when he needs to concentrate on drinking from the fire hose.
