Jim - Hey, I back. Hopefully this is the last time to the emergency room because I feel like a dang pin cushion.
Yea the Chicken Mamas are a force not to mess with. Those women are as tight as bonded as can be. They send gifts and letters to each sailor who is feeling down and needs a little lift. Every mom knows so much about the field their son/daughter is in, that they pass the info on. Sue is an expert in the nuclear field. She know it.
Now it's time to get back to what this section is all about, the nuke field....
Jim...just got a text from Craig's wife, they sent him home around 4 this morning...they have adjusted his meds...I am sure he will get back on here as soon as he feels a bit better.
I know Craig as his wife is part of my circle of navy moms we call...CHICKEN MAMAS! there are 12 of us that keep track of all our goings on with our kids and each other...known each other for about 4 years through all our ups and downs with each other and our sailors. I have met Craig and had lunch with him when he came to Reno and my son met him and some of the other chicken mamas when they were in San Diego a while back. We send letters when needed and gifts to each other and our kids! And no, Craig doesnt live any where close to me, but I am one of his moderators on his navydep site
Hi KS Dad
My daughter just emailed me from the Ronald that she is fine.
When your son report to the ship, remind him to bring a blanket.
My daughter did not bring one with her to the ship. She had to send an email asking mom to mail it to her. Of course we did it right away!
Sandy,
When a command wants to seperate a sailor in a hurry, they will do that quickly. The DD-214 will follow in the mail. This is not a normal thing, but sometimes the CO just wants the sailor out of there. Example we had a gay Chief that to maintain order within the command the CO got him out within hours.
I've seen it happen, the DD-214 will usually come within 2 weeks. If you think you son is hiding (sorry no other choice of words) it from you, then I would have him call the PSD office at Goose Neck and ask them when he should receive his DD-214, while you're in the room with him. Heck, I would ask him to put it on speaker so you can "try to understand the military ways". He won't make that phone call if he's already gotten it.
Again, most kids don't want to look bad in front of their parents, and they will try to hide stuff. However, it will all come out within 2 weeks so why hide it? The bottomline for my house is my kids need to be honest with me, anything less than that needs to be addressed. I know it hurts, but it will soon come out anyways.
Although the fight is almost impossible, he will need to submit a DD-293 to see if he can get his discharge amended. They will only do it if their is a mistake, you just can't ask for a discharge to be upgraded. Only like 2% ever get them upgraded, but heck, you have to exhaust all efforts when you are grasping at straws...
I wrote this for a sailor I had on my website and it might help you....

You really have a hard and long road to travel. It's not an easy process, and the results are usually not good. However, what do you have to lose to try? Nothing!.... So work the issue and get your ducks in a row. Here are two website. Even though the Navy Discharge Board can't really help, it has good info. I like how they say to go to AL or DAV, which for you would be a good idea.

Thank you KS Dad. Yes the Ronald is heading to northern coast of Japan to help quake victims. All US vessels at Japan sea are safe.
This is what my daughter wanted to do - helping people, as she told me when she graduated from high school. I don't know from where she learned this, I didn't teach her that. The interesting thing is that this is her first deployment.
Is your son home now?
Craig,
We hope you are feeling better. So sorry to hear all your health issues and hope the doctors figure it all out and you will be back to your old self in no time. We are all praying for your speedy recovery. Take care of yourself and keep us updated.
Regarding our son, he did come home last night. Boy, have we heard the stories. When someone is in the Navy and they get separated, don't they always get a DD214 form? Regardless? Also, they shouldn't have their military ID nor all their gear either, correct? Thanks for being here for us and thank all of you for your continued support and prayers....boy, do we ever need them.
Sandy (Michael's wife)
