My son said that EMs and ETs usually proceed to prototype first with the MMs usually getting the grad holds. Since my son just got married he was advised that he would stay on at Goose Creek so that he and his new wife can stay in base housing. He likes the idea of staying on at Goose Creek as prototype will be on either the USS Sam Rayburn or the USS Daniel Webster.

I got a call from my son today, at first I thought something must be wrong because I understand he is very busy. I usually call my son on weekends and try to encourage him. My son told me he was just calling to say hello and everything was fine.
My son is doing well in school and I let him know I am very proud of him. It really meant a lot getting that call from my son, he really made my day.

My son had nine days between leaving Power School in Goose Creek and reporting to KSO in New York for prototype.

Bubblehead / Congratulations on being so proud! There's no other way to put it. For me, I was amazed. I knew that God had a plan for my son, but I never knew this would be the way. I take comfort each day knowing that He is in control. My son's scheduled to graduate power school February 25, 2010. He and his wife live on base in a very nice home. They hope to be going to NY for prototype.

I understand the "on hold" situation may come up. Can anyone tell me if they stay in Goose Creek "on hold" or let them know they will stay or go (to NY) and give them a chance to move?

He says that power school is not as difficult as A school was, but there is so much more information to cram in. Also share with yours that they better stay in shape through A school, cause a "more organized" PT program will start back up in power school.

God bless you and yours!

Just reading threw some of the comments and see the phrase "on hold" a few times. My son left GC in May and is up at Ballston Spa. Wish I had a nickel for every time I still hear him say "on hold". I could retire! Proud of all of your sons and daughters who have dedicated this part of their lives to our great country. God bless them all and keep them safe.

This will be an interesting ride... My son just started boot camp and is in the nuke program... Don't know his rate yet. He's following in my footsteps (man, that makes me proud & amazed)... 29 years ago I headed to boot camp, then nuke school. I spent 6 years and finished EM1 (SS).

Things certainly have changed, but the pride of being a nuke (and a submariner) are the same.

Welcome Eric. As a word of caution to Eric and David, it is generally policy we are told not to use last names on the sites for security reasons. Not meant to dampen your enthusiasm for being here but I just thought I would pass that on.
