TFJ ~ I'm not sure my son understands what I asked him. He said that working with his recruiter would take away from his 10 days off not add to his 10 days off. I'm refering to the break between A school and Power School. Could you please explain further?

Our son graduated A school October 3rd, had 10 days leave, and then spent the next 5 weeks pulling duty before Power School started just before Thanksgiving. He then was also given 17 days leave over Christmas. They do let them go in the hole sometimes with leave, especially when the school shuts down.

Phases in the Nuclear Pipeline. This is found on the Kansas Navy & Marine group. Compiled from several sources including N4M's.

All sailors are limited as to freedoms for a while in A school. They are "phased up" as they progress. Once in phase 3 they are basically on their own. They have required study time, even on weekends, that is based on how they progress in class, the better they do, the more lenient the study time assigned. As far as I know you could visit any time at all, but again their availability though is up in the air. When we attended our son's Power School graduation in May we stayed at the Quality Inn on Redbank a couple miles from base. Very nice, well kept and very convenient.

My son is already in Balston. Waiting for Prototype school. Just wondering what happens after Prototype school.

My son had to sign out of his barracks also the same day of graduation and received his orders 30 minutes after the ceremony that he was going to Ballston (he semi-knew in advance but was told nothing is definite until you have the papers in hand). He was given 10 days to report to Ballston so he used some leave to spend time at home. His roommate did not use any leave and had 2 days to report to Ballston.
