What coins apply to our guys graduating May 14th from Power School? I think I will get my son a San Diego one because we hope someday he ends up back here. But what ones would I get to commerate this occasion?

Don't know if this applies to you but when my son graduated boot, we gave him the sailor's cross which is Jesus on a cross made from an anchor. He proudly wears it as a honor to his religion and to his service for our country.

Here is a link for other coin racks. They show the same ones from the other site and then quite a few more!

Here is a site where you can buy the challenge coins. They also have display racks for them. I didn't really see a rack that I liked, but maybe you could look on a coin collectors site for a different one if you don't like them either. I was thinking one with blue velvet in the background would look nice so the coins would show up nicer.

You can also get the coins at some of the NEX stores. :o)

Good idea EMC (SS)!!

My son is graduating at the same time and I have the same problem. It has been rough for him to get this far. I put "Navy Gifts" in my search box and saw one thing I liked, a woooden Navy plaque. It is about $90. Still looking though.

A challenge coin would be interesting and Navy related. There are several companies on the web that make them and giving him one with a special design that only the two of you have along with the history behind the Navy tradition would be truly different and give him a story to tell later about his first challenge coin.

My son had PIR 3/26 went to his graduation. It was nice to see the changes in my son. My son was also grad n go. I was able to contact the USO at the air port and spend more time with him there.
He had to be at airport @ 5:45 in the morning and was flying out 14 hours later. Got some great pictures of him there also. Your sailor cant have cell phone in basic but once they step off bus from Great Lakes they can have them but no camera phones are allowed in study areas in A school so keep that in mind.
It was better than graduation event from high school, would not have missed it for the world.

I appreciate the navydads site and I hope there is a better response to the survey to give the sites' creators a little feedback ,4 easy ???s
Did anyone see the PBS documentary 'CARRIER'? Produced by Mel Gibson.
It was great! I got the dvd at the library...Carrier life from topside to bottom.
Nukes are in a top secret area but you get lots of input from many sailors.
