Well, I have egg all over my face! I had assumed that he was a ET (N), opps he is not. He is a MM (N) so I guess that the 13 to 14 week "A" school is correct. Also says he is coming home at the end of the Month.

Yes it is. Being able to see and speak to your son makes all the difference in the world compared to just email. Plus the dog talks to him and she's almost as tech challenged as my mother. ;-)

KS ~ pretty sweet aint it? We skype every weekend if not more. It is very nice to actually "see" them doing well.

Microsoft LiveCam VX 5000 $37 @ Newegg (video and audio) and a gmail account sure work well for visiting with our sailor. Best communications tech investment I've made in a long time.

That's weird because my son is in the ET track and he started school in late January and finishes in July.

Talked to the boy tonight and he told me that ET (N) school is 14 weeks instead of 24 weeks like it is at GL for a non nuke ET. Said that a whole bunch of the stuff is covered in NPS for the ET (N) rate that the Navy has shortened the A school down to the 14 weeks. Power school and prototype is still 24 weeks each.

Yeah, power school is about 6 months for all rates and classes start every two months or so. My sailor is an EM.

Well mine got there in early Jan and is finishing A school in the last part of April. Wanted to know how long the next phase is? Mine is ET!

I assume you are talking about power school, that is approx 6 months. Those who graduate May 14th started just before Thanksgiving last year. Each of the three segments of training, except for the MMs is about 6 months in length. A school for MMs as I understand it is only about 3 months.

Does anyone know how long NPS is?
