Hi, YEAH! Congratulations to your son!!! How exciting for them all to begin their next journey! Safe travels to them! :)
Well, leave is over. He flies back to NY today to get his car and then drives (along with his roommate) to VA tomorrow. He checks in to the Truman next week. The journey continues!
Does anyone have a sailor on the USS Truman?
Hi all - Happy Friday! Son graduated prototype in BS last week and we went and had a great time. It was cold, but we survived. I'm sorry we didn't get to meet up with you, Brian. We did meet a few navy moms and of course many of our sons friends. He's home with us now for 3 weeks and then it's off to the USS Truman.
He also re-enlisted and they did a ceremony for that too. So very proud of him and all the sailors that graduated. BZ!
Thanks MagoostersMom! Yep we fly out this afternoon. Can't wait to see our son. Very excited for graduation - been a long 2 years lol!
Looking forward to meeting Brian there....also have a group of mom's that I've been communicating with on the FB page and we are excited to meet one another.
Fingers crossed the weather holds up (we lay over in Midway) then on to Albany.
Have a great day all - I'll post some pictures when we get back!
B's - First off, Congratulations to your son on his graduation!! :) And thank for your reply regarding the bedroom furniture. I'm glad it worked that your son will be able to move everything with him!
Grant - I also "bumped" the conversation up above of "A Sailors perspective of proto from 2009". Interesting to read (but don't let it scare you!).
Funny you ask that Grant - I was just having this conversation with some nuke mom's on facebook. Everyone's sailor had a different answer as to which was harder. I asked mine and he said Power school was the hardest for him (he's graduating Prototype on Friday). A school and Power school are a classroom setting with book learning, Proto gives them the "hands-on" approach. For some it's hard to adjust to working at their own pace in proto and figuring out how to get things done in a timely manner.
Our Sailor has worked hard and will be graduating Power School soon with good grades.
Just wondering how stressful/difficult Proto will be when he gets into that training phase? (He will first be going to Kings Bay for some additional training while on Grad Hold.)
