Craig, the interview is to be picked up on the Instructional Staff at the end of his Prototypes training.
Chris, Thanks and yes, Matt is looking to go into the STA21 program. He has pretty much mapped out how long and where he wants to be in his career. The Navy has done wonders with him.
Your son is a hot runner Bob! SPU is a great opportunity that comes with more responsibility. Good luck on the interview. Is he thinking about STA-21?
To Bob Morrell
Thats great Bob. I know I probably should know what that means but I don't, unless its OCS/Annaoplis interview.
Just got a call from our Matt, he's in Prototype training at Ballston Spa, he is scheduled for an interview before a Panel Friday to be picked up on Staff after he completes training. His Goal.
To LukeH
Hi Luke thatnk for the info. Didn't know there were watches to be stood on PIR day.
Craig, plan to be flexible. You aren't going to know any details until after PIR, and it is a very long day for the new sailors. Sometimes they have watch in the afternoon or evening. Ours did, so we only had about 4 hours. We met up with him at O'Hare around midnight and hung out for a couple hours there. He had an early flight, so we didn't stay until the gates opened.
To NukeDad
Thanks for the info. I didn't know we could get a "gate pass" with out a ticket or boarding pass.
Figured we would have to visit out side the gates. But your idea is better.
Thanks again
Craig
Craig, When you get to the airport, whichever Midway or Ohare, go right to the airline on which your son is traveling and get a pass to get through security so that you can continue your visit with your Sailor at the gate.
To mlongst and Barry Anderson.
Thank you both for your info. It would seem I won't know for sure until i get word from my son. Our return flights are from O'Hare, so if our son leaves from Midway, we will just have to deal with it. We will meet our new Sailor at which ever airport he is leaving form.
Thanks
Craig
mlongst - I printed out what you posted - thanks! We are thinking we will go into NYC on the Saturday when we are there. I'll take a look at the website and see what I can find. So far Sailor hasn't ventured into the city so he's not too sure about it either!
