My son has just passed his oral boards at Balston Spa and will be moving out to Bremerton, WA.  Has anyone's sailor transported their personal vehicle/car with the Navy?  Does the Navy cover the transport cost?

9-2-13 Today we had on board 3 Navy Petty officers from the Navy's Nuclear Program, Nick Johnson, Matt Morrell and Mike Chapmen. They are changing Command from Goose Creek, SC to Ballston Spa, NY.

Calm seas greeted us, but she was a tad foggy all day with very little wind. Nick and Mike were Fluke novices, but they showed their stuff and boated fish. Had way to many Sea Bass that had to go back. Boys put together a good catch for tonights dinner.

Great day was had by our Navy's finest, Nick ...and Mike were treated to their first Slater's Slider (Pork Roll, Egg and Cheese) and the boys loved them.

Managed a respectable catch of Fluke to 23" and threw back several Sea Bass. Proud to have our Navy's Finest onboard!

Bob:  My son was at Ballston a few years back.  If your son is looking for housing, I highly recommend the Clifton Park area.  My son said it was a 20-30 minute drive each way but loved the area and the fact that you're not constantly near your job.  Plenty of shops and restaurants. Also most of the driving was against the normal rush hour flow of traffic.

I was in GC last March.  There was a mini NEX in the buillding right near the ceremony, might have had a gym in it.  They had a bunch of NNPTC shirts and cups and pins.  Got 2 of these for $10 the day of the ceremony.  I'll upload the picture, but its the first I've tried so I hope it doesn't turn out huge.  My MM has been in BS for 4 months now, and I'm still holding my breath, since boot camp.

Nice picture Bob!
We spoke to our sailor tonight - all is well. He is studying for his physics final on Tuesday. He said they did their draft for their Fantasy Football league - life is good!

Just got home from Graduation at Goose Creek, Fantastic experience and so proud of our Matt and all the other Sailors. Now its on to Ballston Spa and Proto Type.

Spent some great time in the Charleston area, one of the highlights was going to the USS Yorktown and having MAtt explain all the mechanics of the ship and engines!

Safe travels to all that are heading out to Power School graduation tomorrow!  Big hugs for all the graduates :)

And same for any bootcamp grads!  Congrats to all of them too :)

Barry, I think that's the best plan.  By the time my son had his itinerary, it was too late to mail us and he had no opportunities to call.  We didn't know his schedule until after the ceremony.  He actually had to be back to RTC an hour or two earlier than many others because they we're leaving out around midnight Friday for a 4:30 PM flight out of O'Hare on Saturday.  He slept in a recliner at the USO that night!  We had driven up, so it wasn't a problem for us to work around his schedule.
