Heading to Charleston this weekend for a visit; any suggested places to visit, or suggestions in general?
@KTR, that was a fast trip. Congratulations to your son.
@David'sMom - yeah, I saw them, but they were taking cash and checks only, so I will get my sailor to get one while he is on Grad Hold.
Well, just got home from Charleston after a whirlwind tour for Class 1206 Power School Graduation - flew up Th night, had a late dinner with my sailor (no curfew) and his brother, then early morning at NNPTC for graduation (long line of traffic, and we were 40 mins early!), then a moving ceremony (they let family get right up to the podium and yell!), then dinner at Anson's, then an early flight home to SAT. Pshew! We're beat but happy, and have him home for 10 days. Now he's in the living room with his three best friends from since 6th grade. Happy, happy, happy.
John W. - My son has been in for seven years now. He got his rating (Specific Job) at the end of boot camp. He is an ET and served two deployments on the Enterprise. Currently on the decommission crew and hopefully wont have any more deployments.
My son just went to boot camp Monday. When will he find out his rate?
it's a great mix of stuff......
Thanks, Paul - some neat stuff there.
Thanks. Can't wait for our son to get down to A School in Charleston and if he makes it all the way through prototype training in Charleston that will increase the likelihood that we'll get to visit him down there from California.
Yes - there is still a prototype in Goose Creek/Charleston. My son, who graduated from Power school in November of 2012, and has been on grad hold ever since, will be taking his prototype training in Goose Creek, possibly beginning in May. He was disappointed because he wanted to go to Ballston Spa, but we are looking forward to again visiting him down in Charleston.
