PIR JAN, 25: new batch of sailors in S.C. now! Following my last comment 5 divisions got HOF honors this week at PIR, including our son's 076. Although winter gave us lots of snow & bone chilling temps up here at RTC, it was an honor & pleasure to witness this impressive graduation ceremony. A dad's proud salute to our son & his new nuke shipmates! And to our friends & family members currently serving in our Navy.

Oops! My mistake! My son said they are "UP" for Hall of Fame. They didn't win it yet, but said they've gotten great scores this week, & have a shot at it!

Gary,

Tried to upload a couple of videos to  my page, but Navy Dads does not seem to support MPEG2 or something else is wrong.  Leave a messsage separately and I'll try to get it to you by someother route.  One of the highlights is  as the Admiral said during his graduation speech of NNPTC Power School Class 1204 in November 2012,

unmistakebly the Navy has the best pilots, but pilots will want to line up and  debate you "who is the best pilot".  Wall street bankers will want to line up and debate you"who is the best investment banker".  But, when it comes to nuclear power no one, no one will debate that the Navy does nuclear power better than anyone.  As ayoung officer, the Admiral, one of the last to be  interviewed for his first nuclear command by Admiral Rickover who then told him:  "Don't have a reactor accident."  Nukes are therefore a very special group and have a very special responsibillity.

Gary,

Will post the video within the week as I'm off for Christmas and the New Year.  Our sailors and service men and women are not, however, out there defending our great  country.  Get ready for a year long ride.  NukeSon PIR'd Nov 4th 2011 and graduated NPS Nov 9 2012. Our A-school graduation, where they get their crow was large, held in the gym, very crowded and it is definitely a significant event, and well worth attending if you can.. NPS was larger, held outside in the Quad with the Admiral doing the presentations (got to shake his hand, too). Very motivational as you'll see.

Nukedad, my son will be graduating boot camp on 1/11/13 then off to nuke school. I would appreciate it if you posted the grad video. How was the ceremony?. Is there one after A school prior to NPS?

NukeSon graduated NPS 11/9 with Class 1204 (12 sailor divisions and 3 officer corp). I'll post a video of the graduation if there is  any request.  On Grad Hold now for over a month  working at Habitatat for Humanities, and home now for a blessed two weeks of Christmas.  Word is that at least some of 1204 will get their orders to Ballston Spa in January.  This has given him and some of his buddies time to rebuild a sand rail dune buggy on weekends and down time (even allowed me to work on it and drive it, very picky crew).  Tryin now to sell it on Craigslist or it will be stuck in mine, or one of the other dad's sheds.  It's like hurry up and wait, deja vu.  Merry Christmas to all dad's and their families.
