B'head, that is great to hear.  I bet it is a relief just to know what's around the corner.

My son has his first "real" duty assignment.  He's headed to a fast attack home ported in Groton.  Mom & I are very happy.  He'll be done with prototype the end of this month.  :-)

Hi all, my son finally graduates from Boot Camp on Friday and just called to inform us that they completed Battle Stations this morning. We hadn't heard from him in 5 weeks, but he told us that he was assigned to the MM rate and is headed out to SC on Saturday after PIR on Friday.  I don't know how long he will have to wait for the rest of his class, but its been a long wait since he DEP's last October. Happy that boot camp is done and now to concentrate on the academics.

Nuke Son finally received orders for Prototype, back to GC.  Glad to hear that because Dad likes Charleston!  Also the pipeline seems a bit shorter now at ~4 months.  He was tired of shredding papers and cleaning up at Kings Bay, they did get a little training but not as much as I would have hoped.  New challenges and new opportunities!

Nuke Son is coming home for a 4 day Labor Day holiday half way through Power School...can not wait to see him...a wife, a sister -in-law, 2 kids, a grandma and a dog to greet him...man this is good!!

Mine graduated A school 20 JUL 12.  He enlisted DEP 3 days before HS graduation, PIR'ed 30 MAR 12. He hated the rote memorization but did well just by focusing on classes and getting help when needed.  He is home for a week, very satisfied and looking forward to getting back and getting through.

My Nuke just finished A school at GC.  He's 24 and had some college but was out of the "study" mode.  He's very goodwith the math and science part but his weakness was the hands on tools, guages, etc.

He's in a very tight knit class and  in asmaller group of 4 or 5 sailors who work well together.  They would try to get study time together and help each other out in  the areas they needed help in. The hands on guys would help the math geeks and vice versa.  The key was the teamwork.  They all got through with pretty darn good grades.  Now they're getting set for power school in a few weeks and plan on continuing their teamwork.  All hands on deck.

This is great advise and also show how we all pull together to help our sailors. I just hope my sons class gets off order quiet so they can help each other at study time.
