1. Whether Republican or Democrat we are all on the same team - The Navy's
2. Name calling or threats to any member because of their political stance will not be tolerated
3. Respect each others political views and debate them in a civil manner
4. Only a healthy debate will be allowed on this site
5. With the rules in place please feel free to join in on the debate
John and Luis have set a wonderful example of how we should debate things in a civil manner. I just want to be up front with everyone who participates in this discussion that I will not let this get out of hand. I want to warn everyone that this site is here to benefit us with our children's journey through the Navy not to slam each others political beliefs.
That being said I do understand that the next commander in chief will be relevant to us Navy parents. I encourage healthy debates when it comes to politics. It's what makes this country so great. We can have our own beliefs and we get to vote for whom we want in office. All I ask is for everyone to debate in a healthy manner not in a negative manner. Express your views and let others express theirs. I do not want this to be a negative response to this candidate or a negative response to that candidate. We all know that political talks can quickly become shouting matches and this is not the site for it.
Whichever candidate wins this election will be the one that we need to stand behind and support because this person will be our children's commander in chief. In the military it doesn't come down to whether you are a Republican or Democrat. In a time of war it comes down to protect your brothers in arms no matter what branch of military they are in or what their political, religious beliefs are. Navy, Marines, Airforce, Army and Coast Guard when it comes down to it will fight side by side to defend this great country's freedoms no matter where they come from.
Sincerely, Navydads Creator

HOOYAH Britannia!
PLEASE DON'T FORGET NEXT SATURDAY!
WALK NAKED IN BRITAIN DAY Think this would get their attention? Don't forget to mark your calendars.
As you may already know, it is a sin for a Muslim male to see any woman other than his wife naked and if he does, he must commit suicide. So next Saturday at 1 p.m. all British women are asked to walk out of their house completely naked to help weed out any neighbourhood terrorists. Circling your block for one hour is recommended for this anti-terrorist effort. All patriotic men are to position themselves in lawn chairs in front of their houses to demonstrate their support for the women and to prove that they are not Muslim terrorist sympathizers. Since Islam also does not approve of alcohol, a cold 6-pack at your side is further proof of your patriotism. The British government appreciates your efforts to root out terrorists and applauds your participation in this anti-terrorist activity. God Bless Great Britain !! |

Mike,
I applaud Michelle for championing support for military families. I just kind of wish that she and hubby were as committed to the constitution that the military defends.
Wayne,
To start with, I am very well read.
Second, I would describe myself as a libertarian leaning conservative.
Now, from my perspective, this President has participated in a century long march towards an elimination of the rights guaranteed by the constitution. Nothing is sacred with the Knucklehead in Chief. He has proudly assaulted rights guaranteed by the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 10th amendments.
Now while our kids are rightfully obligated to salute and respond with an "Aye Aye Sir" to this @$$, they do so as part of a commitment to protect my peculiar right as an American to refer to the POTUS as being something slightly less than pond scum. That sir, ad hominem or not, is a right that I proudly exercise if for no other reason than to make sure that I get what my kid is paying for.
Another right that I proudly exercise is that one that allows me to call horse exhaust on cliched expressions or sentiments. Among those cliched expressions and sentiments is this crazy notion that the path to unity is an embracing of "diversity" and singing Kumbaya under the American flag.
Nuts.
As an American, I have NO obligation to respect opinions, lifestyles, religious beliefs. Nor am I obligated to provide special consideration to genetic traits. Similarly, I have no right to expect others to offer me respect or special consideration for what makes me or mine unique.
What I will do however, is lock arms with the biggest d@mn fool on the planet in a mutual commitment to protect each others right to be d@mn fools. That sir, is American unity and it differs significantly from one of the popular progressive notions that we compromise our uniqueness in an effort to become one.
@Mike This group has been a little boring with out you. No fun when everyone agrees with each other.
@greg -- it's been a busy time, and I'll probably disappear again as April approaches, due to heavy work travel. But I try to look in even when I have no time to really participate.
To be fair to Wayne, he was responding to a deleted joke about Michelle Obama that was racially tinged. That poster should be embarrassed for this kind of crap. Particularly given that whatever you think of her husband Michelle Obama has adopted military family support as one of her First Lady causes, and we are all tied to people in the armed forces here.
Mike
nice to see you again. You can remove that joke again. Classless on both side.
