Jean - if you're asking about my son, no, he's active duty. His contract is up and he's opted to get out, finish his degree and then decide about returning or moving on to something else.

Danny - it's an incredible ship. I was able to spend 3 days at sea on her from Mayport, FL. to Norfolk, VA. last summer when they returned from deployment during a Tiger Cruise. Awesome. If you ever get the chance to experience a Tiger Cruise, don't miss it. What is your son's contract for?

Danny, congratulations to both you and your son! You're in for a heck of a ride ...

My son went to N. Crowley HS and we're in SW Ft. Worth - practically neighbors. He went to BC in 2008 and he'll be back home to stay in June, but for right now he's deployed aboard the USS Enterprise.

Got a call form Cody last night and he told me thta they were work long hours to get ready to put out. He will be abale to start on his job in the next week or so. Sure was good to see him over the holidays. We are west of fort worth. John I will be over before you know it just hang in there.

Dan I know you are a proud Dad of your son's accomplishments. We are just 4days into the ride waiting on ship, sub, and that first letter. Glad to have a Great site to bounce tihought of that has made this journey. Thanks Dan for the post.

John, welcome to the group.  We are from the Amarillo area.  My son went straight to Submarine school in CT after graduation from RTC.  He is serving on the USS Alexandria based in New London, CT. The graduation ceremony was really special at the Great Lakes, we didn't make the Sub school graduation.  In the last 6 months he got his Silver Dolphins, made Petty Officer 3rd Class then Quartermaster.  We are certainly proud of him.
