I can not speak for everyone but I really enjoyed breakfast and meeting with other navy parents. Something I was thinking about is how many folks in the DFW area have younger children (I have a 10 year old). The thought of something along the lines of a picnic as the weather cools to a more tolerable level comes to mind. The parents can chat without occupying up a table at a restaurant and the kids could play. Might even consider a group cookout and me and my son could fire up the dutch ovens Could even go to one of the parks right there on lake grapevine so fishing would be an option. Just tossing a thought out there.

I will see you there.

I won't be able to make it, I work on Saturdays and am scheduled that day. We are only 3 hours out of the metroplex so maybe we can eventually make one of these.

I did find out Eric finishes A school this month and will be E3. He said he is working hard to make 3rd Class Petty Officer shortly after. He really is happy with his choice to be a Sailor in our Navy. And he's really pleased with his assignment to the Big E! I just hope he gets a liberty before reporting to his ship.

April, my son is an Enterprise sailor too (2 years now). If you want, accept my friend request on this site and I can send you Jason's info to pass along. Enterprise is a great ship with a fantastic crew - she is old, but mighty. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. We've just completed our first deployment as parents and learned tons and tons of "survival" strategies. If you haven't already, look into NavyForMoms.com, there is an Enterprise specific page there. You'll also definitely want to "like" the Enterprise FaceBook page if you do the whole FB thing. While they were deployed, the updates, photo's and uploads of the ships newspaper helped us keep our sanity through the long bouts of little communication. Tons of resources and great people there - we've made friends for life because of it.

Welcome to the Big E family!

Hello everyone.  We are a West Texas family, Abilene.  Our Sailor just got orders for the USS Enterprise!!  We are very excited for him.

Tony, the 27th sounds good to me. As soon as we nail down a date I will put it on the Calendar of Events on the main page and will contact the other Admins to see if any can make it. There is one that not all that far from us. Looks like Old West added some new menu items if we decide to go there.

The 27th works perfect for me, it is the weekend between summer activities and the school year with the scouts. How many folks showed for the last one. One thought I had was some golden corrals have large rooms maybe we could get one of those. With a buffet style breakfast everyone could kinda eat at their own speed. This would be especially important if anyone needed to hit and go to get to work or anything (Just a thought)
