What determines if you wash out?

Thanks Mitch. Sounds like what he just described on the phone a few minutes ago. Also, at least ten sailors washed out this week. The chiefs don't cut any slack! Nor should they.

Jack, check out this link. This is what they gave us at MEPS for MTs.

My son is also an MT. Says there aren't a lot of them going through right now. His paper work indicates 8 weeks. Did indoc first week of December, had a start-up week, then stand down for the holidays. Last week was 'welcome back to school' though the Chiefs had far more colorful words for the sailors no doubt.

Mitch, I think there is a bunch of different information out there.  I had seen that BESS was four weeks but it is really about eight.  Then they go to different schools.  I don't know too much about MTs but I bet they are fairly similiar to other non nuclear ratings. Pete

Thanks Pete. Looking at my son's rate card for MT. It says that sub school is 4 weeks and Basic Mechanical Skills school is 3 weeks. Is all that considered BESS? Or is the mechanical school something that he has to go through as an MT?

Hey Mitch, Yes you can.  I heard they are very low key but we get our Son for the day which is worth the trip for us (We live in upstate NY).  They probably have a good idea once BESS classes officially start.  Our son told us the date about the second or third week of BESS. Pete

Can you attend BESS graduations? I didn't know. If so, at what point do they tell you their graduation date?

Thanks G0 Navy.  Is your son graduating this Friday. For anyone who has a son in BESS class 11060 and is not going.  I am planning on going and will have my camera.  If you let me know by tomorrow a "name" I will try and get a picture of them.  Pete

@KHK looks like our boys are in the same class. My son is an MT.
