I am new to the site and new to the group.  My son ships out to boot next month then into the nuke pipeline.  I couldn't help but join this group for nostalgia sake.  This was my first ship; as a plank owner it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Hi Robert:    Apologies Sir, for the delayed acknowledgement and response.  First, please extend my thanks to your son for his service, prior and continued.  Second, the "Abe"  (i hope I have not offended anyone) is our son's first assignment.   Proud to have a son assigned to the USS Abraham Lincoln as it prepares for return to service.    Best wishes to you, Robert.  ~ Pat

You thank the boy for his service on the Abe.....you might take the sailor off the Abe, but there is a piece of the Abe that will certainly stay with him!!!

It is official, my son has departed the Lincoln after 5 years of service. On to his next phase of his Navy career as a recruiter.
