Our family would like to take the opportunity to wish all of you and yours a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday season to those of other faiths. Literally we are all in the same boat with our loved one's doing their duty to protect this great nation. Thanks Lincoln, we rest easy tonight.

I got a phone call from my son today. I had no idea that they would be able to make phone calls while at sea. All is well and he is working hard on his quals.  It was great just to hear his voice.

You Can see pictures of Burial Ceremony on Abes facebook page.

My son said he was involved in a pretty moving ceremony on board the Abe. Said it will be in the Penny Press though he isn't pictured. Apparently they had some burials at sea. I am thinking they were ashes, didn't get that deeply in the e-mail. But, it must have been moving because he usually does not go into great detail usually.

Abe is a very fine ship, and my daughter aboard is not the only reason I think so.

They've done real good the last year and you can expect they will do more of the same.

This whole new homeport thing  -- we'll deal with it.  Deployment -- that too.

Like you said -- a very fine crew.

A little late but welcome aboard Terrie. Your sailor is now part of the best ship in the U.S. Navy. As my son said "she is a fine ship and has a damn fine crew "

Anybody know the generic form for the email address for a sailor on the ship?  I tried the one my daughter gave me but it came back undeliverable.

Good point Robert.
