Does anyone know what the crew does while the ship is in drydock for its midlife refueling?  Do they stay with the ship doing maintenance or will they get reassigned to another carrier?

Outstanding, I'm sure our son's will meet. I think next Det is right after Ben finishes so I'm sure he'll like that. Have him look up AM2AW Gerrard when he gets there. I'll let Jace know also.

Thanks Michael, Ben is an AO.  He is at Oceana now, about 25 more days of C school.

Tim, the "E" is the Battle "E" ( Battle Effectiveness Award ) it used to be the Battle Efficiency Award. Welcome to the VFA-34 Blue Blasters family. My son has been with them since the end of 08. What is your son's rate ?

OK New guy question for Dave,

"qualify for the "E""  what is the "E"?

My son will be joining VFA-34 after C school shortly and I would assume be aboard the Lincoln sometime in the future.  I have a lot of terminology to learn!

Looks like the test was good for a lot of our guys and Gals. Matt made P O 3rd also.

As for Fleet Week L.A. he was told that he was required. I suppose I was assuming the Lincoln. Though he is attached to the Air Wing and not the Lincoln Per Se. His father in law said he may have volunteered though since the mother in law and all the sisters will be visiting then.

That brings me back to the air wing attachment thing.  I didn't realize that the air wing though out on the full cruise during the deployment didn't qualify for the "E" while on the Lincoln though the ship and crew did. I would have thought all hands would qualify if they spent some minimum amount of time. Just sees odd to me.
