Hope all that are able to partake have a great time with your sailors. It will be a great experience. You'll have to fill us in on all the details. Dinners with Capt. Stubeing, Isaac the bartender, Julie and Gopher and of course Doc. Oops, dating myself.

Just got some good news. Our Airman just passed his exam for the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist (EAWS) pin. He was pretty proud and I guess only a couple of them made it.

Yeah, the cane, spatze and the top hat will stay home. Not even the zoote suit is going. But I am packing my Starbucks card for some delicious joe at Jittery Abe's. I'm out pickin cans too for that extra cash to take to tip the waiters and the for the slot machines....LOL

Yes, the tux might be a little "over the fantail" but you're leaving the smoking jacket behind too?????

Hey Paul, Robert and Steve thanks for the info.  I am cruising the first phase and am really looking forward to it also.  My son stated to pack lite, so I'm leaving my tux and smoking jacket at home.

In '08 I did a Tiger Cruise aboard the USS Hue City (CG-66 Guided-Missile Cruiser) from Port Canaveral to Station Mayport (Jacksonville).  It was only an "overnighter" but still an experience of a lifetime!  Pretty hard to get lost on the ship but still a lot of stairs!  The one day at sea was filled with tours of the ship (because of my background in computing, I was escorted through the CIC - Combat Information Center) and planned activities - firing of the 5-inch guns, tour through the engine room, simulated rescue at sea, and a picnic on "steel beach" - the choppers' pad.  They barbequed steak, hamburgers and lobster.  I didn't get nearly the comprehensive list of suggested "bring-along's" that was provided for this year's Abe Tiger Cruise so I didn't take a sleeping bag.  And I won't this year!  In spite of the cramped quarters, I was very comfortable in the rack using Navy linens.  I'm pumped for this Cruise!!!!

My list said to bring a sleeping bag but if not linens would be provided. I will opt for the linens. Shower shoes , soap bar in plastic case( liquid types seem to walk) bath robe, taking shorts instead and lots of cash to spend. Plenty of clean clothes nothing fancy will be needed(laundry services are available but not suggested)

you should check with your sailor.....I did not take either, but have heard some have recently.....I had a good pillow and a brand new US Navy wool blanket....which somehow ended up here at home.....

btw...the Boat Show now has it's own Facebook page.....I have a link to it in a discussion I posted on the main page this AM

Well ok I got my swimming trunks packed and I just need my beach towel for the cruise.  But should I bring a pillow and blanket?
