Well, I just got back from the Post Office.  I did everything completely the wrong way the first time so I could learn and comfirm all the advise received on this site.  I love reinventing the wheel...

Some have asked about how long the packages take to get to our sailors.  The Post Office said they fly the boxes to New York, which takes 3 days, then the boxes are put on a military transport.  After that its anyone's guess...

ept1974  My son's first time out too, and I know the pride you are feeling in you son.  My son is an AD with the E-2C Hawkeye.  Yours is an ET, WOW...your son must be quite intelligent.  What our sailors are doing out there is important.  It's not easy having them gone for such a long time.  Luckily they can e-mail from time to time.   Did you go to Norfolk for their deployment?  My son wrote me an said standing on the deck was such an honor...

Hello Bentley,  I am sending my first package tomorrow.  Everyone is telling me it could take two weeks, or as many as six, depending where they are and if they are at sea or in port.  The person who told me six weeks was thinking about Japan, so I am hoping two to four weeks.

My stepson is also on the IKE.  The Facebook page is very good.  Ike posts great pictures on the Facebook page almost every day.

I sent him a package the other day.  Anyone have any idea how long it takes a package to get to the FPO then out to the ship?

Hi folks, have written in a while, my son is a MMFN, this is his second deployment and this is one proud father. As always care packages are important so make sure to wrap and double wrap, also personal items examples underware, socks, foot powder on and on. My son also likes sport magazines and outdoor. If any of your sons or daughters has issues with tampered items drop a message here and I can relay message to the proper sources

Our son is aboard the IKE. He is on the flight deck.  We miss him but are very proud of him. We are receiving emails pretty regularly. Glad to hear from some of you who also have loved ones on board.

We will do that!  These are all great tips.  Amber has been a huge help, except that I will need a COD just for MY stuff...lol
