Hi!

I have a loved one on the IKE!

I get emails from him almost everyday...he mostly talks about how his work schedule is going and if the food is horrible or not. So as far as how everyone else is doing ...i really dont have any answers.

the Eisenhower does have a facebook page..i reccommend starting a facebook page or adding their page because they are always updating photos of things going on during deployment...also photos of our sailors doing the jobs they do everyday..so you might get lucky and come across one of your sailor!!

Hello Dan, Yeah, seems quiet here.  Sounds like there are at least a couple of us who have someone on this cruise.  I have been trying to track them based on very SMALL amounts of info I get from very short e-mails from aboard.  They have encountered weather and rough seas, but seem to be doing really well.  There has already been a request for FOOD!!!!!

I also have a son aboard this cruise. I have tried to get people to talk on this site, but it just don't happen (check the dates). join Navy for Moms, you can keep up with stuff a lot better.

Hello Everyone!  Any IKE updates?  I know we're deployed right now.  Are your sailors on this cruise?

Allen, the Family Day Cruise has been cancelled completely. They don't see any good options for rescheduling. It's very sad.

Just wanted to let every here who is not aware:
Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security)
(Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips)
This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way.

The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter. If you scan in a picture of an article that contains your Sailor’s last name, make sure to black it out first. If it is an online Navy article or news article that you are reposting, do not publicly identify the mentioned Sailor as your son or daughter.
• No Sailor addresses, emails, or other contact information. The exception to this rule is FPO addresses.
• Specific dates, times, and locations regarding current or future deployments and ship movements. Do not post dates more specific than by month. Do not post specific ports of call, deployment bases, or future destinations.
• Details regarding training, equipment, and current or future operations or missions. (But Boot Camp is okay.)
• Names or numbers of the Recruit Training Command staff.
• Ways to cheat the system. Navy will see it as a breach of security when you share things like how to bend the rules. We don’t want to jeopardize the safety of our Sailors.

INCORRECT:
My Sailor is in XYZ unit and is stationed at ABC camp in XXX city in Iraq.
My daughter is aboard the XYZ ship heading to ABC city/country in X days.
They will be coming back on X date from XXX city.

CORRECT:
My Sailor is deployed in Iraq.
My son is aboard the Stennis.
They will be coming back sometime in May.

When in doubt, less is better.

Please don't put my sailor or yours at risk by posting ship movements or schedules of any kind.

Thanks!!!
