  • Sorry for the confusion on my last post.  My son just finished prototype outa Nuke school in Goose Creek SC.  Ordered to the Nebraska Oct 5.

He and his wife think they have found a rent house in the Poulsbo area.  Anyway, I was just wondering how your sailors like it there in that area.  The rest of our family lives down here in Texas.  We can't wait to visit there.

  • Steven S, my son is currently stationed at the Bangor/Kitsap NB and lives in Bremerton with his wife. They really like it there and the prices are good. One really nice place is Poulsbo which is about 17-20 miles north of the base entrance.

  • Steven,we live about 70 miles South of where the USS Nebraska is based,if we are talking about Washington State... It is based out of Naval Base Kitsap,Bangor,Wash. The only Goose Creek Wash. is in the Cascade Mtn. range about 100 miles East of Seattle over by Ellensburg... If your son is being assigned to the Nebraska then they will just love the area up there. It is very nice !

  • Anyone?  My son just got orders to join up with the Nebraska out of Goose Creek.  He and his wife are looking at houses and such in your area now.  Just joined here to see if anyone out there?  ha

  • Hi Terry,Yes things are going pretty good for James. They had been doing a lot of work at the F.O.B. the last 3 1/2 months..Not exactly sure what is going on,but he said he would be out of phone contact for the next 3 weeks or so...I know what we have read into that and all anybody can do is guess, but I have a pretty good idea.... Have a good one and tell your son congrats...

    Steve !!!!!!
  • Hey, Terry..that's great on your son getting PO3. I was over in Port Angeles a couple of weeks ago. Stopped at the Underwater Warfare Museum pretty cool.
  • Hi, Steve...it's been a while since I've been at this site. Hope things are going well with your son. Mine was just promoted to PO 3rd class and actually got to be part of the 9/11 memorial ceremony at the Kitsap County Fair stampede and rodeo in Bremerton a few weeks ago. Man, were we proud to see him march in with members of all the other military branches that day!
  • Hey Terry, yes he is.. his unit has been for about 8 or 9 weeks now..... They went thru a 3 week stretch of working very day, about 13 or 14 hours a day. since then they have had a couple of days off..I know they did one stretch of 17 hours.. I know we have all done that at one time or another, but never ever have I pulled that kind of duty at 125 degrees.... to me that would be a butt buster!!!!!! He actually seems to be doing pretty good considering!!!!!!
    Take care!!!
