At MEPS in San Diego. He hasn't shared yet when he leaves for basic, his job will be Missile Technician. I work in the South Bay, live in the Inland Empire.

Gary,no Brian didn't. He was still working through the process of getting into the CHP. I too helped with the planning of some of the funeral process as I worked with the CHP in the local area. It was touching to see the local CHP commander present the State flag. I believe all the officers in the local office were present that day as was my crew. We live in a small town there was a lot of help from the city, etc. The CHP was also there to escort him home when the plane brought him home.

I am truly sorry to hear about this Scott. My BIL (my best friend at the time) back then died as an Army Infantry during a training exercise at Schofield Barracks, HI back in the days he was 19 at the time. When the news broke, I had to be the face for the family that dealt with DOA (Department of the Army). I can replay in my mind to date the series of events I still miss him dearly... So did Brian go CHP then Navy? We have a good friend former Marines still in the CHP to date...

5 years ago today my son lost his best friend in Iraq. This was the catalyst that started him to enlist. They had started to plan on enlisting in the Army together while they were in high school but didn't. TJ went into the Army soon after high school and Brian started his pursuit of joining the CHP. I pray each day for all that serve our country and that they all come home safe.

Congrats again Gary!!

B'sNukemom - we've been to NBSD NEX several times as well. I remember the first visit, when I set foot inside I thought I walked in to Macy's hahah... And yes it's a great place to shop. I believe right outside there's a pretty good peanut/almond vendor there where you can try before you buy heheh..

B's Nukemom - San Diego's NEX is a great place to shop. It is huge. Been there a few times. Whenever we visit friends in San Diego we stop by to see whats new.

Stephen - Thanks. It has been a wonderful Xmas for my wife and I. Our new daughter is a great person and she is very supportive of our son and him serving.

Since Sailor is home we took a trip to the San Diego Nex yesterday.  Wow - that place is huge!  Sailor got a new computer and I got some new Navy Pride souvenirs.....I really wanted the "Popeye the Sailor Man" coin but they were sold out.  Got a couple other coins, a new shirt for hubby and GPA, some cups and a new sticker for my car!
