That's great Mike! Until the Gerald Ford gets launched, the GHW Bush is the newest carrier in the fleet.  My youngest son is an FC-2 on the Nimitz, the oldest carrier in the fleet.  They are on deployment now, and he loves the ship.  I haven't seen him since February.  They are currently with the 5th Fleet Area of Responsibility.  We can't wait to see him.

Enjoy the 2 weeks with your son!

Thanks Stephen.  I'm so proud of him.

Thanks John.  Yes, he got assigned to the USS George H.W. Bush Aircraft Carrier in Norfolk, VA.  It was the best of the three choices they gave him.  He's coming home with me tomorrow for 2 weeks before he has to report to his first assignment.

BZ Mike to you and your sailor!

Does he have orders for his next assignment?

My sailor graduated from MA "A" School today in San Antonio, TX.  The ceremony was smaller than PIR but very nice and yes emotional.  I got to pin his badge on him for the first time.  I'm so proud of him!

Hoorah!

San Diego Padres Host Annual Navy Appreciation Day...
Story Number: NNS130624-23Release Date: 6/24/2013 9:39:00 PM

By Mass Communication Specialist 3rd Class Matthew Hogue, Navy Public Affairs Support Element West

SAN DIEGO (NNS) -- The San Diego Padres conducted their annual Navy Appreciation Day at Petco Park June 23, as a tribute to all Sailors serving in the San Diego area.

More than 80 Sailors from amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2), guided-missile destroyer USS Russell (DDG 59), Combat Camera Pacific, Naval Base San Diego and Naval Special Warfare were invited onto the field to line up along the base paths as part of the opening ceremony.

As the color guard paraded the colors on the field, the Sailors stood at attention and saluted while Navy Band Southwest played the national anthem.

Following the national anthem, Rear Adm. Dixon Smith, Commander, Navy Region Southwest, was invited onto the field to throw the ceremonial first pitch.

Sailors from Naval Special Warfare then took the field and met with players from the Padres before the game started.

"The Padres organization has always been exceptional at recognizing San Diego County's military," said Smith. "I just want to thank the Padres."

Sailors and family members in the San Diego area received free tickets to the game courtesy of Navy Region Southwest Morale Welfare and Recreation. Military in uniform can receive 50% off any available tickets at all Sunday regular season home games in 2013.
