John - good news to get email from your son while he's on board ship.  Now if we can just get our son to return our emails from Charleston.  He's not the most communicative kid out there.  Oh well, at least he isn't calling asking us to drive out with truck keys! (We wish!)

OK so not everything about having your son close, stationed in San Diego is good. Like tonight when I get a call that he lost his truck keys on the base today, and he needs the extra set so he can move the truck closer to his ship. That means that I am now leaving for a 2 hour drive each way, to deliver a set of keys. Some things never change! Still wouldn't trade it for the world. Gotta go!

My Sailors Blue Candle arrived today as well. It was on here that reminded me to order it in the first place thanks guys!

Well, we got our first e-mail from sea from our son aboard the Nimitz.  He seems to be adjusting to life at sea very well (but I did start taking him fishing on the ocean when he was 3).  I had to smile when I read the part of his e-mail where he wrote.."Dad you should see the F-18s when they launch and land on the flight deck.  Coolest thing ever!"

Stephen and Paul, thank you for the information on the Blue Sailor's Candles.  We ordered them last week, and they came today.  We'll light one for the first time tonight.

Today, I Heard from my SR Ship 9 Division 186. They are going into their 3rd training week. Got fitted for his other uniforms. Passed his written test. Eating better, more salads and fruits, now enjoying more energy throughout the day. Looking forward to more hands-on training in the coming weeks.
