  • The single sailor program has lots of group activities to sign up for. It will be a good chance to meet some new friends. The third link I gave you on Airdales gets you into their site.
Andrew also found that his C school class was mostly made up of people he knew from Pcola.
  • Andrew called yesterday. He told me that there is a free bus that runs from the island down as far as Everett. He also told me that there was a fight in a place called in Oak Harbor called the Lava Lounge where a sailor was hurt. He said his stay at Whidbey Island was great.
  • Also on Whidbey Island, my son was able to get into Seattle to at least one concert. He also was able to go to several minor league hockey games. There is a Navy newspaper called the Northwest Navigator. The Whidbey Island NAS web site has a link to it. From what Andrew has told me there are quite a few cloudy days.
When I talk to Andrew I will ask him about anything else.
  • Carl - That is neat :) he will be the closest he has ever been to me so far, about 5 hours away! That almost seems right next door now hehehe. He told me yesterday he is flying out this Friday (5th) for his command, he isn't scheduled to be there until the 15th though. He said they are giving him 10 days if he wants it, but he is saving his leave for later. I noticed you are a single parent also, have you joined the group Single Parents? I am going to check after this note :). How was your Thanksgiving? How is Zac doing? Is he in Pensacola? God Bless, Michele :)
  • Welcome to NavyDads Carl! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric is almost two months into a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat just returned from her seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Carl this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Zac is doing! Best Regards- Paul
  • welcome Carl and thank Zac for inlisting and serving our great country. As I have said all over this site, may God sail with our sailors. And may God Bless our Children. Enjoy this site and feel welcome and put out all your fears and all your positives! We are hear for each other. I am a grandmother who worries about my oldest grandson, I know how you parents feel. Stay strong for our sailors and know we are all with you. May God light his way!
  • Carl thanks for joining. I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud navy dads just like myself. Thank your Son for his service for me. Good luck and thanks again for joining. EG
