  • Hi, susan I wish I was in Lassen county right now, until I leaveI for Great Lakes, love the beauty of this part of CA. My daughter Ashley will be PIR October 16th 2009. I am soooo proud. Can't wait too see her, as she transitions to a Sailor.

  • Susan- I happened to read your post to EG and saw you mention your uncle and the USS Franklin. I am currently reading a book about the Franklin and the USS Santa Fe and would recommend it highly if you are interested in learning more about the amazing story of the ship and what they endured: it is called LUCKY LADY and is written by Steve Jackson and published by Carroll and Graf. I picked it up at Borders and is a very interesting read for sure!
  • Welcome to NavyDads Susan ! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric just returned from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat returned last fall from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Susan this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Justin is doing! Best Regards- Paul
  • Susan, Welcome Aboard! I'm so glad to have the Navy Moms on here to keep us men in line. My son is an ABE aboard the USS Ronald Reagan in San Diego, Ca. and my family and I couldn't be prouder of him. When he first enlisted I found NavyForMoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. We have many moms on the site and benefit greatly from their point of views and we are willing to help the moms in any way we can. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your sons journey in the Navy. Thank Justin and your soldier for their service for me and thanks again for joining us.
    Sincerely,EG
