My middle son is in 8th grade and for the first time in his school's history he and his teammates have won the little six championship. Not only that but tonight they closed it out by doing it undefeated. My son Michael is number 55 in the middle standing… Continue

Network Problems

For some reason in the activity, groups, and discussions the underlining writing such as time of last activity ex. minutes or hours of last activity have faded into the background color. How many members in the groups is faded into the background. Also the discussions are having the same problem. I have contacted my network through which I run this site through. Hopefully they will have this fixed soon.

To chat simply type your text in the white box beside the smiley face and hit enter on your keyboard for it to post. This might be neat to actually meet others in live chat and be able to have a conversation real time. I hope ya'll enjoy!

Gustav

We survived Gustav! We got lucky by the storm falling apart at the end. The people in New Orleans were very lucky this time. My advice is they better get busier strengthening those levee's. God definitely spared the Gulf Coast this time. We have had a lot of rain here so flooding will be are only threat. Now it's time to watch Hannah and send our Prayers towards that neck of the woods. We will be praying for our members on the East coast.

I feel Dale's pain ( he really left! )

Yep. Dale I feel your pain. We have had to say goodbye to our son three times since he's been in the Navy. I said goodbye to Evan this morning for the fourth time in his short Navy career. This will be a long goodbye as he is headed for San Diego California ( a long way from home ). It doesn't get any easier or atleast it hasn't for me. My wife Cindy thankfully was able to make the cross country trip with him and will be flying home Sunday. She gets 5 more days than me. Whats up with that?… Continue

He really left!!

I knew he had enlisted but the day of departure still seemed to sneak up on me.. My son Dale is a member of Cardinal Company and they all reported to Great Lakes on 8/7/08 aroound 2300. We finally got our first letter yesterday and he said bootcamp is kicking his butt. But then again he has only been there a week or so. He never did go out and run like I told him too, he is such a typical teenager(Boy). He found out he had partial color blindness and was disqualified from the Nuke Program. He… Continue

Ask a Sailor

Hi everyone.

My son and his fellow sailors have started a group (Ask a Sailor). They thought this might be helpful for parents to ask actual sailors about their experience's in bootcamp, A school, and things to come. They will check in with the group once a day to read the questions and find the answers to what us parents would like to ask. This could be one of the most helpful tools on this site. A big thank you to the Sailors who are willing to help out us dear old parents. Also I would… Continue

Congratulations to our new navy graduates

Guys that was so awesome to see. As a parent of one of the new sailors the ceremony was the coolest thing I have seen. To see our son's and daughter's standing tall in front of us parents in your whites was a very proud moment for us. You all looked the part. I couldn't be prouder of all of you for your commitment to defend this great country we live in. When you as one said your creed aloud to the crowd it gave me chills. I am so proud of what you guys have accomplished. I know it wasn't easy… Continue
