Worried father

My daughter is a new Navy doctor doing rotations at Portsmouth VA Navy Hospital. I'm very worried about her. She has to work 12 to 15 hours a day, and make good medical decisions every time. She feels that if she asked her resident for help with all the paperwork ect. she will be transfered to a "out of the states" assignment. Is she right ? Can anyone help ?Worried Dad in Florida

  • The New Navy is a lot easier on the new 1st year residents. She has to learn how to speak up and ask serious questions. She will not leave until her residencey is complete. They can not send incompetent Doctors overseas. Any residency military or civilian is made to make you think on your feet. It does not matter how tired you are you will be trained to think and act with out hesitation.Your new Doctor will be the Pride of the Navy by time her 2 or 3 year residencey is done.
  • wow...only 12-15 hours...I know a number of doc's that (civilian world) and when I was pre-med was prepared for 24 or 36 hour rotations.....

I can't speak for the x-fer details, but would expect her to have to fit in with the hierarchy and extablished protocols in the hospital...........
