  • Hello all. My son is now in DEP with a ship date of March 8, '17.  He has selected AECF ET/FC.  I hope to learn what is going on there.  I do here it is a rather tough school but rewarding field.  Hope to get some good information here.

  • Welcome aboard Eric. My son went through a school back in the fall of 08. A school is located in great Lakes across the street from basic. Should get the weekend to spend with her after P.I.R.. my son the attended C school in San Diego and stayed there for 5 years before transferring rates and being stationed in Naples, Italy for the next 3 years.
  • Hello everyone! My sailorette enlisted into the nuke program and was recently "de nuked" and just received orders to ET a school. What can she expect?
  • Ward is right Chris. My son Trevor and family left Great Lakes in late May 2009 with orders to report to San Diego the 13th of June 2009. With orders halfway through C-school to  report to the U.S.S. Rentz FFG-46 (very recently decommissioned). He Left for the Rentz, which was already on deployment, the Monday before Thanksgiving 2009. In January  2014 He started his 2nd enlistment and 3 years Ashore duty in Naples, Italy. To say that he has had a whirlwind tour is an understatement. I am glad that the Navy has offered and given him and his family the chance to see the world.

The Navy now has started Rotations to where if you are on the East Coast you will only be deployed to the Atlantic and West coat will be deployed to the Pacific Oceans and theaters within. A cost savings action for the government. Good luck to your son on Getting the Base on the coast that he wants. Keep up the great work fellow Navy dad and again thank your son for me for all that he does.

  • Chris,

Your son will likely get sent to either coast to attend one or more C Schools. He'll then get orders, most likely, to a ship, but it could also be shore duty.

My son attended C School in San Diego and is now stationed on the USS Anchorage, out of San Diego.

  • Hi, all. New Navy Dads member here, and I just wanted to shout out. My son has been at GL since 16 Jan; he is currently in A school. We just got back from a visit up there, and my feelings of missing my son don't grow any fainter, but my feelings of pride in him grow stronger every day. He will be at GL until the first part of November, and he will be done with A school. Any info out there regarding what the next step is likely to be? And are there any other Texans out there in this group?

  • Not much noise in here so I am going to try and stir up a little noise for the group. Trevor is now 6 years in, has re-inlisted for another 4 years and has been stationed in Naples, Italy for the next 3 years. He is finally getting to work on what he was trained for in C-school back in 09'. He is now working on Cyber security, turning hackers into the hacked ones and destroying their systems before they destroy ours.

  • Bravo Zulu Trevor!!!!

Son just enlisted 6yo for ET

My son just enlisted for ET. He scored ok on asvab and fortunatly had his list of jobs when at MEPs and his first pick of ET was open. He is a bright kid but lacks great math skills and has never shown great study skills or great determination at excelling at school. He is smart enough to turn it on when he has to but gets easily distracted. My big fear is that he has picked a rate that is over his head. He struggles in math and I have been reading alot about the ET rate and it seems to be alot…

My son finishes boot camp... now what?

There is a lot of great info out there on this website!  Thanks for the brainiacs that got this ball rolling!! So my son graduates boot camp... what happens next?  can someone with recent experience comment on a CURRENT timeline from ATT, to A school, to C school, to first assignment?  Looking for length of each of the above and current wait periods between each.  Also looking for a post of when the family can reasonably expect to see their loved one for their first leave period.  Thanks in…
