Hello all. My son is now in DEP with a ship date of March 8, '17. He has selected AECF ET/FC. I hope to learn what is going on there. I do here it is a rather tough school but rewarding field. Hope to get some good information here.
Ward is right Chris. My son Trevor and family left Great Lakes in late May 2009 with orders to report to San Diego the 13th of June 2009. With orders halfway through C-school to report to the U.S.S. Rentz FFG-46 (very recently decommissioned). He Left for the Rentz, which was already on deployment, the Monday before Thanksgiving 2009. In January 2014 He started his 2nd enlistment and 3 years Ashore duty in Naples, Italy. To say that he has had a whirlwind tour is an understatement. I am glad that the Navy has offered and given him and his family the chance to see the world.
The Navy now has started Rotations to where if you are on the East Coast you will only be deployed to the Atlantic and West coat will be deployed to the Pacific Oceans and theaters within. A cost savings action for the government. Good luck to your son on Getting the Base on the coast that he wants. Keep up the great work fellow Navy dad and again thank your son for me for all that he does.
Chris,
Your son will likely get sent to either coast to attend one or more C Schools. He'll then get orders, most likely, to a ship, but it could also be shore duty.
My son attended C School in San Diego and is now stationed on the USS Anchorage, out of San Diego.
Not much noise in here so I am going to try and stir up a little noise for the group. Trevor is now 6 years in, has re-inlisted for another 4 years and has been stationed in Naples, Italy for the next 3 years. He is finally getting to work on what he was trained for in C-school back in 09'. He is now working on Cyber security, turning hackers into the hacked ones and destroying their systems before they destroy ours.
Bravo Zulu Trevor!!!!
