No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny
Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.
RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Thanks, Jim, but do you know if there is actually a "final guest list" form the complete? The only thing he's done so far is the initial form letter -- his expected PIR is May 5.
Dan,
Q.I am not sure I am on the access list. Can you find out and make changes if I am not?A.
It is the recruit’s decision whom to place on the access list. Please communicate with your recruit well before the final week of training to be sure the right names are on the list. The Public Affairs Office does not have a copy of the access list as they names on the list are not divulged to the public. No additions, deletions or changes will be made to the access list the week of graduation.
Does anyone know when they get to complete their final guest list for PIR? I've seen some older posts (from about 2012) where they submitted the final list 7-10 days prior to PIR, but I'm not sure if it's still the same or not. In speaking to our son on the phone tonight, he didn't seem to know how that worked.
Thank you everyone for the feedback on the proper pushups. I am very grateful
Recruits must maintain a "plank" form....
Will you someone tell me what the proper way to do pushups is within Navy Bootcamp, I find so many versions on youtube and google. Is there a point where the recruit can rest in downward dog?
If you search facebook for Armed Services Blood Program Great Lakes IL, you may find a picture of your SR -- we saw our son, and it made our day yesterday!
