Things to do and places to stay in Monterey.

My daughter will also be headed to Monterey. My wife has asked me to already start looking for vacation homes and hotels in the area. I figure we can post things we find in this discussion to help each other.

  • My wife just emailed. Bleacher seats at SF Giants' park are only $16.
  • Here is a good website that a Spouse set up. Seems like she isn't keeping it updated anymore, but it's got good information. Most of it seems like stuff for people who live there, like where to get your hair cut, but good info anyway.

Here is some good advice I was given by a Navy Commander who was a student at DLI.

When you visit Monterey, the best lodging deal is probably the bachelor's quarters at the Naval Postgraduate School; it's a nice old place and the Trident Room bar is worth visiting. There's also a Navy Lodge at one of the housing areas, maybe a ten minute drive through town. Try going to Latitudes at Lover's Point for a sunset early bird special
dinner; I don't recommend the Lappert's ice cream shop in Pacific Grove.

I think this is the site for the Bachelor's Quarters:

And the site for the Navy Lodge:

I hope to get down there in a few months, but we'll have to see.

    Thanks for starting this thread.
