My sailor just finished 3weeks of high desert SERE training. Lost 10 lbs, slept in a 4x4 kennel, and got daily beatings and hosing down. Fun, fun, fun. Says hell never have a problem eating food dropped on th floor again.
All his Navy friends ask why the hell he did SERE, and he can't tell them. I want to brag, and I can't. Pooh.

I don't like the prospect of my son going through that. It's not like he is unaware of it though. I suppose it's part of what they mean when they say that being a SEAL is a way of life.
When I was on active duty (69-73) all UDT/SEAL, Marine Recon, Naval and Marine Aviators and aviation flight personnel were required to attend school for obvious reasons. They were more likely to get captured. I would say the same holds true today for all all Navy, Marine, Air Force, and Army Spec Ops and avaitors.
