Blondie,
Thank you so much. His name is Heath. He is in the Yokosuka Base hospital. We spoke with his doctor last night. Turns out his appendix burst some weeks ago. Doc said he doesn't know how his body fought off the infection. His abdominal cavity is one large abscess. They are draining off about 8 oz. of pus a day (sorry to be so graphic). They will continue to do so until the infection is under control. Then he will have to take time and recover and then he will go in and have the appendix removed. The doctor told us that out of all appendicitis, only 1% is this type. And out of that 1%, 100% is fatal. He doesn't understand how our son is still with us. But we do. God is faithful and He has his hand on him. All of Heath's levels are going in the right direction but they told us that he is not out of the wood yet. I'm trying to get my passport. We are also praying about trying to get him back here to the States. We're not sure of what it will take to accomplish that or if we should try. We need prayer for discernment. We want to do what is best for him. Please ask everyone to continue to pray fervently for him Blondie. Thank you so much.
God bless,
Robin (Fish's mom)
AMEN!
Prayers go out for those in need at home and abroad and give us strength and perserverence to ensure that your will be done. Keep our servicemen and women under your watchful eye and let your glory be carried with them whereever they go.
Thanks Blondie. Our last update was that he has had appendicitis for a couple of weeks. His ship was out. The last three days that they were out he spent in sick bay. Turns out it is acute appendicitis and he developed a pocket of infection around his appendix. They needed to get a tube inserted to drain the infection and the only doc that could do it was at the hospital in Yokosuka. We found out that he had the surgery without anesthesia and that the doctor was in his bare feet. We're extremely concerned about more infection occurring due to the nature of the surgery. He was moved back to the base hospital where they will begin antibiotics soon. We were told that it will take a couple of weeks to drain the infection and then perhaps a month for him to recover. Then they will go in and remove his appendix. And once he recovers from all of this he will have surgery to repair a torn meniscus on his knee. He was scheduled to have this surgery this coming week. It's going to be a very long road for him. We'd certainly appreciate any and all prayers on his behalf. Thanks

fishdad, prayers are going up and will continue until we hear from you that he is okay. I've been through simular things, my daughter has been hospitalized 3 times (once in DC) and twice in the Middle East. thankfully nothing since beig stationed in Japan. What ship was your son on? What Japan Port is he in? My duaghter is out on their summer deployment so not much she can help with, sorry. Asking God to guide the doctors and give your son stregnth and also askign for God's comfort to you and lyour family. Peace be with you.
We'd ask that you would keep our son in your prayers. We received a call earlier today and were told that he had been in sick bay on the ship for three days and when they were finally able to get him into port they got him to the ER. He has kidney stones and/or appendicitis. He's in a lot of pain. We haven't' heard anything in a good while and we're unsure of what is going on. He is stationed in Japan so there is no easy way for us to find out what is going on. Please pray for our frayed nerves as well. Thanks.
On this day, God wants you to know ... that a lot of things you think are important, are just urgent, but not important. Focus on what really matters. A phone call for example is always urgent - it rings only a few times and is gone, but is often not important. If you are in the middle of something truly important - playing with kids, being present with your loved one, - do not stop just because a silly phone rings.
